Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive outpatient surgical procedure. Dominic S. Carreira, M.D. is one of the only fellowship-trained hip arthroscopy and foot and ankle arthroscopy and endoscopy surgeons in South Florida. His office is located in Fort Lauderdale, near Miami. He is also a team physician for the Florida Marlins and Miami Dolphins. For more information, please visit www.hipfootankle.com.

I am so excited about the new Dr. Carreira blog ... keep it healthy out there.
Good tip Doc, Thanks (Fast)
Dr. Carreira,
I recently twisted my foot and believe I sprained my big toe. I've been Resting, applying Ice, and Elevating it, but I don't have any bandages for Compression. Any ideas on how I could complete the RICE method?

The article is unclear as to which procedure exactly was done for the cartilage restoration. The issues involved in a successful restoration are much more complex than what has been discussed in this article. The resurfacing techniques which have demonstrated efficacy include ACI (Articular cartilage implantation) (with second and third generations now available), and autologous and allograft osteochondral grafting. Generally speaking, I like to start with a minimally invasive arthroscopic technique for both diagnostic and treatment purposes, and use these additional procedures as needed thereafter.
Dr. Carriera,
Thank you for reading the article and commenting, I really appreciate your time and it's refreshing to met a true professional that is responsive to their clients. I'm realizing things are not as simple nor homogenous as they read on the internet. It was a pleasure meeting you and I look forward to getting your opinion once the tests are done. Thanks Again.
Andre S.
